An ode to Parker Knoll

Vintage Parker Knoll

I have just acquired a vintage Parker Knoll chair. I have always admired them, the craftsmanship is fabulous. I have not had the room before, but now, I have a garden pod office and I am filling it with all things vintage!

A little bit about the brand…

Parker Knoll started it’s business over 150 years ago. It is renowned for designing high quality chairs and sofas, and is considered one of the UK’s prestigious furniture manufacturers.

It was founded by Frederick Parker and German inventor Willi Knoll. Parker was a cabinet maker whose designs were noticed by King Edward VII and he was asked to measure him for a chair. Parker Knoll then became known for its quality upholstery and tension springing system. Setting a new standard for comfort in furniture. In the 1960’s reclining chairs became their signature piece of furniture. Vintage Parker Knoll chairs are now collectable. You can pick one up for anything from £150 to £500 or more depending on the rarity of the chair.

I personally love the style of the mid century Parker Knoll chairs and the retro colours. The sleek lines of the frame and the robust cushioning are fabulous. A Parker Knoll is a talking point in a room. They are, in my opinion, timeless and, if well looked after, will last for many years to come. By buying second hand, you are also giving a beautiful chair, like this, another lease of life and helping save the planet too!
