The 70’s are back!

As a child of the 70’s I can remember my parents brown and orange carpet vividly! Now, I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with brown and orange, but the 70’s colours that are coming back in 2025 are more muted. Think earthy tones like green and orange but also mustard yellow, blush pink and avocado green are making an appearance.
There is obviously no need to go full 70’s and incorporate all the colours in one room, unless you want to of course. If you are wanting to make a small change to your space, you could source some new cushion covers or curtains to start with. Voile or Linen curtains are lovely for Spring/Summer. There are some great sellers on Etsy. Linen/cotton cushion covers are gorgeous all year round. Try The Tartan Blanket Company for some beautiful, sustainable homeware.
Make sure you have a colour palette in mind. If you are not sure what the colour palette for your room is, you can take a photo of it and use an app called Coolors. This identifies the colours in your room and then you can decide which colours to add to your palette or which to switch out.
Think about textures too. Sumptuous velvet sofas, a smooth glass table and floaty voile curtains or leather sofas, a retro wooden table and heavier curtains with a bold print. Textures are important, they create layers and add depth to a space.

All white bathrooms are also on their way out. Remember the good old avocado bathroom suite? It’s back… as is the blush pink bathroom. Personally, I love these, but if you want a bathroom update and can’t face having it all the same colour you could just incorporate a sink and a toilet whilst keeping your bath or shower white. Or, you could start with the smallest room in the house, the downstairs WC. Again, think about your overall colour palette and the colour of your tiles. There are sites that sell reclaimed bathroom fittings so it’s worth looking there. My favourite is Mongers Architectural Salvage.
